IHRA
Holocaust Remembrance Alliance

Facebook must finally implement a hate speech policy that includes the full International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance’s definition of anti-Semitism!

United with Israel (UWI) recently joined over 130 other organizations calling on Facebook to “fully adopt the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) working definition of anti-Semitism as the cornerstone of Facebook’s hate speech policy regarding anti-Semitism.”

Unfortunately, anti-Semitic activity is rampant on the social media platform, with a significant portion of it manifested as “anti-Israel” or “anti-Zionist” activity.

According to a recent report titled “The New Anti-Semites,” the “delegitimization campaign” targeting Israel “drives hatred and violence in America” directed at Jews. And this is no less true in other countries throughout the world.

In July, British Chief Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis also accused Facebook of “complicity” in online anti-Semitism, adding that the social media company’s “inaction” permits Jew-hatred to fester and spread.

Indeed, the current proliferation of anti-Semitism on Facebook led UWI and over 130 other organizations to demand the adoption the IHRA’s working definition of anti-Semitism, which nearly 40 countries have already endorsed or adopted.

The letter explains, “The full IHRA working definition of anti-Semitism provides Facebook an effective, neutral, and nuanced tool to protect Jewish users from hate speech and imagery that incites hate and oftentimes leads to violence.”

Now, YOU can join the fight against hatred and demand that Facebook protect Jewish users by adopting the IHRA working definition of anti-Semitism.
