Last week, the University of Maryland Student Government Association (SGA) passed two outrageous resolutions attacking Jewish and pro-Israel students.

Their demands? That the university condemn an event hosted by Students Supporting Israel (SSI), and that it ban Israeli speakers — including IDF soldiers — from ever stepping foot on campus again.

Why? Because three IDF soldiers dared to share their firsthand stories of fighting Hamas terrorists after the October 7 massacre.

The resolutions, pushed by SJP’s leadership, go even further: they call the event attendees “war criminals,” demand apologies for the disruptive protesters, and push a blacklist-style policy to prohibit Israeli voices based on absurd and antisemitic accusations of genocide. All this, fueled by slander and lies.

This is not student activism — it’s targeted antisemitism, dressed up in political language.

If the UMD administration doesn’t reject these hate-fueled resolutions immediately, it will be complicit in a dangerous campaign to silence and isolate Jewish students.

UMD must take a clear stand: defend free speech, denounce antisemitism, and protect Jewish and Israeli students from harassment and censorship.
