Since the brutal Hamas massacre of innocent Israelis on October 7th, the Jewish community worldwide has faced an unprecedented surge in violence and antisemitism.
The latest Global Antisemitism Report from the Combat Antisemitism Movement (CAM) reveals a shocking escalation in hatred that threatens Jewish communities globally, from campuses to local neighborhoods, and demands our immediate response.
The report highlights that over one in four antisemitic incidents in the U.S. occurred on college campuses, proving Jewish students face an increasingly hostile environment.
Disturbingly, groups like Cambridge for Palestine openly glorify figures like Hamas chief Yahya Sinwar, responsible for the October 7th atrocities, illustrating how some campuses have become platforms for antisemitic extremism.
Online, the situation is equally dire. The watchdog Cyberwell reported that antisemitic content online increased by 36.6% in the months following October 7th, with an 86% spike in just the first three weeks.
Antisemitic narratives on social media have become more virulent, with tropes like “Jews are an enemy” rising sharply, reflecting the dark shift toward normalizing Jew-hatred. Cyberwell founder Tal-Or Cohen Montemayor warns that “Hamas hijacked our favorite social-media platforms” to turn them into “weapons of mass psychological warfare.”
Despite these alarming trends, fewer institutions are adopting the IHRA Working Definition of Antisemitism. This concerning slowdown indicates a troubling lack of urgency in combating Jew-hatred during a time of escalating violence.
