Yet another Palestinian killed in the “March of Return” was not merely a journalist, but also a terrorist.

A Palestinian who was recently killed during the violent incidents on the Gaza border, purported to be a journalist killed on duty, was in fact a terrorist.
Ahmed Abu Hussein was killed in mid-April during the Hamas-led March of Return. He was seriously wounded, supposedly while covering a demonstration near the border fence in the Jabalia area.
Due to the complicated nature of his wound, he was first transferred to a hospital in Ramallah and from there to the Intensive Care Unit at Tel Hashomer hospital near Tel Aviv. He succumbed to his wounds in the hospital and was buried in Gaza.
The Meir Amit Intelligence and Terrorism Information Center (ITIC) investigated his identity and revealed that in addition to being a media person, he was also a member of the Palestinian Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) terror organization.
The PFLP’s military wing issued formal death notices, saying that the organization mourned the passing of its member, Abu Hussein; red PFLP flags were carried at his funeral; and his Facebook page was replete with posts glorifying the terror organization, its leaders and murderous attacks, such as the assassination of Israeli Minister Rehavam Ze’evi in 2001.
The Abu Ali Mustafa Brigades, the PFLP’s military wing, also posted a death notice on its website, mourning the death of “the shaheed, the hero, the journalist, Ahmed Abu Hussein.” The Brigades vowed to pursue “the Zionist criminals, who will pay the price for their crimes.”
Similarly, he worked with for the PFLP-affiliated Voice of the People Radio.
Media Used as Cover for Terrorism
Ahmed Abu Hussein was the second journalist killed during Palestinians riots near the border fence. Press photographer Yasser Murtaja was killed on April 6, while covering the march.
Like Abu Hussein, Murtaja had a dual identity: In addition to being a member of the media, he belonged to Hamas’ security forces.
Murtaja, 30, died from a gunshot wound sustained at the Gaza border during the Friday protests in early April. International media claimed he was a journalist who was shot while filming a news clip, with no mention of his affiliation with Hamas.
Quoting an Israeli military official, the report confirms that Murtaja was a member of the Hamas terror organization and served with the rank of Nakib, captain, in its internal security service. The Israeli sources said that their intelligence indicates that Murtaja acted on a daily basis to serve Hamas’ apparatus.
Several similar incidents of media personnel acting as terror operatives were widely exposed and documented by the ITIC during Operation Protective Edge in the summer of 2014.
Israel has pointed out that Hamas is exploiting the mass marches on its southern border as a cover for destroying the border fence, and the military has vowed to prevent any breach at all costs. The IDF said that last Friday, protesters hurled several explosive devices and firebombs, using the thick plumes of smoke from burning tires as cover, and that several attempts to cross the fence were thwarted.
The majority of those killed in the border clashes were terrorists, Israel has proven.
