Israeli military police on Tuesday arrested several soldiers who filmed themselves praising Jenin terrorists, following an IDF operation in the Palestinian Authority-controlled city which left 7 Israeli soldiers injured, one moderately to seriously, Israel National News reported.

Kan News identified the soldiers as Druze and Bedouin members of the IDF.

According to Kan, the soldiers say in the video, “Hello residents of Jenin, God stands with Palestine. Israel can go to hell. Let’s go!”

According to Israel National News, the Arab soldiers were subsequently released. The military prosecutor said that the footage in question was “edited selectively – most of the time the suspects came out in defense of IDF soldiers. The matter ought to be treated only on the disciplinary level, not criminal.”

Israel National News cited IDF spokesperson Daniel Hagari, who told Kan Reshet Bet, “At the moment 5 arrested are under investigation, and they will receive very strict disciplinary treatment, but it is important not to throw the baby out with the bathwater – it is still proper to draft all segments of Israeli society.”

On Monday, it was reported that IDF soldiers came under heavy fire during an arrest raid in Jenin. While soldiers returned fire, the IDF was forced to launch a rescue operation to extract some of the troops. During the rescue operation, Palestinian terrorists detonated explosives buried under the road, injuring seven soldiers and damaging at least two vehicles.

Kan Reshet Bet reported on Monday that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu noted the IDF is preparing for a scenario in which Israel’s Arabs join its enemies in wartime.

“There are 10 military battalions training for this thing. Although it is still not enough, they are preparing exactly for this day,” he reportedly said.
