The Qatari daily Al Raya praised the firing of rockets at Tel Aviv. According to MEMRI, Al Raya published, “By firing rockets from Gaza on Tel Aviv for the first time, the Palestinian resistance has proven its ability to surprise the Israeli enemy and strike at the very heart [of its territory]. [It has also proven] that Palestinian blood is not cheap and that the government of occupation and settlements will pay the price for every drop of Palestinian blood spilled in Gaza and the occupied West Bank.” Furthermore, MEMRI has documented that a song in Arabic has been created to praise attacking Tel Aviv.
However, other Arabic publications have also praised attacking Israel. According to Palestinian Media Watch, Al Aqsa TV proclaimed, “From the Palestinian people to the Zionists: We’ve missed the suicide attacks. Expect us soon at bus stations and in cafés. From the Al-Qassam Brigades to the Zionists: Don’t go to sleep, because we may get you in your sleep. From the Al-Qassam Brigades to the Zionist soldiers: On the edge of Gaza, [your] grave is waiting for you. From the Al-Qassam Brigades to the Zionist soldiers: Come forward, brave one, so that you can be killed.”
Palestinian Media Watch reports that the PA’s official daily also referred to Al-Ja’abari’s death as Shahada – Martyrdom for Allah, calling it “the crowning achievement of his life of struggle.” The article also said that “his self-sacrificing actions (i.e., terror attacks) will be told for generations to come and will be eternalized in memory.” It is important to note that Al Ja’abari was responsible for developing Hamas’ military wing into a regular army, is known for his involvement in the kidnapping of Gilad Shalit, and supported further kidnappings, as well as rocket attacks against Israeli civilian targets.
