Assassinated Iranian general Qasem Soleimani wasn’t just out to wreak havoc across the region. It turns out the man described by former President Trump as “the world’s top terrorist” also the created terror in his own country, establishing centers to spy on Iran’s Jewish population, the watchdog organization MEMRI reported this week.

In a program earlier this month on Noor TV, the Iranian regime’s Islamic scholar Ahmed Abedi said Soleimani had invested resources inside Iran to spy on the Jewish community in order to make sure none of them were working on behalf of Israel.

“Regarding the Jews in this country who spy for Israel, [Soleimani] established centers for monitoring the Zionist spies. He established many such centers,” said Abedi, whose comments were translated by the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI), an organization that monitors foreign broadcasts in Arabic and Persian and translates them into English for audiences who would otherwise never know what was really being said.

Soleimani was killed in January of 2020 in a drone attack by the U.S. Air Force, taking out the commander of the Quds force of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) that has been sowing destruction across the region through Yemen, Iraq, Syria and Lebanon. Soleimani was also the brains behind attacks by Iran’s various proxy militias, was suspected of being the commander behind the killing of over 600 Americans in the Middle East over the years, and had planned mass destruction attacks on Israel.

Jews have lived in Iran for thousands of years. Hundreds of thousands fled the country after the Islamic revolution have remained in Iran – a tiny oppressed minority in a country with a population of nearly 83 million.

Abedi’s comments on Soleimani confirmed that the government in Tehran suspects everybody and anybody in the Jewish community of being a spy for Israel.

Trying to butter up Soleimani’s legacy, Abedi told his followers that the dead general was the one who helped the Iran-backed Hezbollah terror group in Lebanon dig an attack tunnel under the Israeli border that would have allowed Hezbollah terrorists to stream into Israel.

Abedi admitted that “the Zionists exposed that tunnel,” but he failed to add that the IDF discovered and destroyed all the Hezbollah tunnels under the border into Israel, an embarrassment to Soleimani who had invested tens of millions of dollars into their construction.
