The online retailer claimed it removed the ornaments, however, other offensive items remain on the site.

On Sunday, the Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial and Museum asked the retail giant Amazon to remove Christmas ornaments featuring images of the former Nazi death camp.

“Selling ‘Christmas ornaments’ with images of Auschwitz does not seem appropriate,” posted the museum on Twitter. “Auschwitz on a bottle opener is rather disturbing and disrespectful. We ask @amazon to remove the items of those suppliers.”

The “holiday” decorations included star and bell-shaped items that depicted images of the iconic train tracks that led into Auschwitz, photographs of the death camp and barracks and the former Jewish ghetto in Krakow, Poland.

The items, which sold for $12.99-$13.99, have caused thousands of people to complain to Amazon, according to Metro UK.

The offensive items were created by Fcheng and are being sold and shipped by Eidecot, according to the Amazon listing.

Amazon first appeared to have stopped the selling of the items, according to a tweet by the museum. However, it then tweeted that additional items were discovered on the site by others.

This is not the first time sellers have promoted the Holocaust on Amazon. In August, Amazon UK stopped sales on its platform of a clothing line that featured the execution of a Holocaust victim.

“All sellers must follow our selling guidelines and those who do not will be subject to action, including potential removal of their account,” an Amazon spokesperson told Metro. “The products in question have been removed.”

Auschwitz-Birkenau has become the symbol of Nazi Germany’s genocide of the Jewish people during World War II. The war nearly wiped out all of European Jewry, with the murder of six million Jews. According to the museum, over a million Jews met their death at Auschwitz-Birkenau. Additionally, about 100,000 non-Jews and an estimated 232,000 children were murdered there.
