During an interview with the New York Post this week, 14-time Baseball All -Star Alex Rodriguez said, “I’m going to Israel, so I am excited, it’s my first time.”

Rodriguez, who played for the New York Yankees, is joining his fiancee, superstar Jennifer Lopez during her first concert tour in Israel on August 1. The singer, dancer, actress and producer is performing at a sold-out concert, titled “It’s My Party,” in Hayarkon Park in Tel Aviv.

The baseball legend’s comments came following efforts by Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) to persuade Lopez to cancel her concert in Israel. The anti-Israel group sent Lopez a letter saying, “BOYCOTT! Supporting the Palestinian BDS Call from Within.”

“I will never abandon my public,” Rodriguez said, according to the Rolling Stone. “Every artist should go where the people are, shouldn’t they?”

In a promotional video for her Israel show, Lopez also expressed excitement about her visit. “I am so excited to see Tel Aviv for the very first time,” she said.

Rodriguez is not the only one to accompany the acclaimed performer. The Times of Israel reported that she is traveling with a 100-person entourage, including dancers, instrumentalists, and light and sound technicians.

All of Lopez’s 30 shows during her world tour have sold out.

This is not the first time that Rodriguez shared a positive view of Judaism. In 2018, Rodriguez posted a video clip on his Instagram account of he, Lopez and their children enjoying ice cream at a shop.

He asked, “What’s everyone doing this Friday night?” and then replied to his own question, “Shabbat Shalom!”

When The Post asked Rodriguez, “What drives you today?” he replied, “I think just constant curiosity about the world. And just kind of building things that will outlive me and my career.”

No doubt, his time in Israel will be part of the enrichment the baseball star seeks.
