terror attack in Binyamin region of Samaria

Three Israeli soldiers were injured – one critically – in a Palestinian car-ramming terror attack near the Jewish community of Dolev, west of Ramallah.

“A terrorist committed a car-ramming attack,” an IDF spokesperson confirmed regarding an incident on Tuesday evening in the Binyamin region of Samaria, adding that an IDF soldier shot and killed the assailant.

“My son said that an Arab came in a vehicle and hit them, and then they killed the terrorist,” Meir Mizrahi, father of Ariel Mizrahi, a soldier wounded in the attack, said.

One of the victims is in critical condition and was evacuated by helicopter to the Sheba Medical Center at Tel Hashomer, near Tel Aviv. The soldier is on a respirator and his injuries are “life-threatening,” a spokesperson for Sheba said.

The other two victims, aged 21 and 22, suffered moderate injuries and are being treated at the Hadassah Medical Center in Jerusalem, said Hadar Elboim, a Hadassah spokeswoman.

Palestinian sources identified the terrorist as Ahmed Riad Abdul Aziz Shehadeh from the Palestinian city of Qalandiya.

On Monday night a 60-year-old Jewish man was stabbed in a terror attack near the Lions’ Gate in Jerusalem’s Old City.  A knife was found on the street during a police search shortly after the attack and two Palestinian suspects were subsequently arrested in a sweep of the area.

The latest attacks shatter the relative calm that has prevailed in recent weeks, stoking concerns that the daily terror attacks plaguing Israel over the last several months could return with renewed force.
