CNN has listed the Israeli city of Jaffa as one of “19 places to visit in 2019.”

The news outlet called 4,000-year-old Jaffa “the artsier sister” of its metropolitan neighbor Tel Aviv, and noted it had “traditionally been home to narrow streets packed with jewelers, sculptors, antique dealers, candlemakers, painters and more displaying and selling their work.”

CNN recommended spending a day in Jaffa by having “hummus and pita at the jam-packed communal tables at Abu Hassan followed by sweets at Abulafia bakery,” then suggesting visiting “the world’s first deaf-blind theater company, Nalaga’at” where “there’s a cafe next door where all the baristas are deaf and you can learn Israeli Sign Language signs for words like ‘coffee.’”

The network also noted, “Jaffa is home to the first whisky distillery in all of Israel, the aptly named Milk + Honey,” and reassured readers, “Yes, it’s kosher.”
