Hamas continues to steal from the residents under its regime, the Palestinian Authority accuses yet again. This time, it’s from the sick and needy.

A spokesman for the Palestinian Authority’s (PA) Ministry of Health accused his employees in Gaza – likely Hamas government officials – of stealing medications and medical equipment designated for patients in the Gaza Strip, Israel’s NRG reported.

Basing their reports on Palestinian news wires, NRG quoted PA spokesman Osama al-Najar, who stated on Sunday that the Ministry of Health had sent a large consignment of medical supplies to the Strip during Operation Protective Edge, but the ministry “does not know where the medications were dispersed and who made money as a result.”

“Entire storages were cleared out” to send to Gaza, he said, but a ministry investigation has revealed that “influential officials” in Gaza have stolen the medication that never made it to the hospitals, “which need them desperately.”

Al-Najar further accused Hamas of establishing “the new division” at the Kerem Shalom Crossing from Israel into Gaza, which has imposed additional taxes on anything coming into Gaza. The PA government out of Ramallah, he added, has not seen any revenues from these taxes.

Hamas is known for its milking of Gaza’s residents. The terror organization has its own set of taxes that it imposes on the locals, aside from those collected by the PA. Hamas has created a set of rules according to which only those who pay their additional taxes have a chance of surviving in Gaza. For example, only those who pay the annual car tax get a special sticker that enables them to buy gas.

The shakedown of Gaza’s residents is Hamas’s main source of income, according to Forbes, making it the second-richest terror organization in the world, after the Islamic State (IS or ISIS) terror group.

A Chronicle of Graft and Shakedown

The PA has previously accused Hamas of graft and usury.

Fatah spokesman Ahmed Assaf stated in September that Hamas received vast sums of money donated by Muslims from around the world during Operation Protective Edge but did not use the funds for the benefit of the residents of Gaza.

“Where has this money gone?” asked Assaf, demanding that Hamas allocate the funds to civilians. He accused the terrorist organization of exploiting “the circumstances of war and death and destruction to collect money at the expense of the blood of the children of Palestine.”

Petition to the United States and European Union

We demand that all funding of the PA be stopped immediately. The brutal murder of Israelis committed by Palestinian terrorists throughout Israel is the latest result of ongoing PA incitement against Israeli citizens. Funding the PA means funding terror.
