IDF forces operating on Israel’s border with the Gaza Strip were successful in thwarting two attempts by armed Gaza to infiltrate Israel on Sunday night.

In the first incident, the IDF captured a man armed with a knife and a wire cutter.

The second incident involved three infiltrators armed with two knives.

There were no injuries in the incident.

Infiltration attempts from Gaza into Israel occur several times a week. While they are often attempts by work-seekers to enter Israel illegally, the IDF treats all incidents as potential terror attacks..

At the end of May, for instance, an armed terrorist infiltrated Israel from the Gaza Strip and was shot and wounded by Israeli security forces.

The IDF stated that the suspect was identified near the community of Sde Avraham in the Gaza area.

Civilian security officers arrived on the scene and located the suspect.

One of them who arrived first questioned the suspect who pulled out a knife and stabbed the security officer. Another officer fired at the terrorist’s lower body and neutralized him.

The injured security officer sustained light injuries to his legs.

IDF forces scanned the area for further infiltrators.

The circumstances of the incident are being investigated by the IDF, police, and Shin Bet security service.

The terrorist is reportedly Imad al-Sufi, a member of the Hamas terror organization.
