Palestinian terrorists continuously seek ways to attack IDF soldiers and civilians.
IDF soldiers opened fire on a car driven by a Palestinian Arab in the Bethlehem area on Sunday after the driver had tried running them down in an apparent terror attack. No soldiers were injured in the incident.
The soldiers flagged the driver to stop at a checkpoint, but he declined to do so and accelerated towards the soldiers. They opened fire on the car, successfully hitting the vehicle. The car managed to drive away in the direction of the Arab village of Hussan.
The IDF launched a manhunt for the driver.
In a separate incident, an IDF officer was moderately wounded when hit in the head and neck by a rock thrown at him during a riot in the village of Dir-Nizam. He was evacuated by ambulance to a hospital in Jerusalem.
Overnight Saturday-Sunday, an IDF unit arrested two Hamas terrorists in the village of Bidu, southwest of Ramallah
The wanted security suspects were taken for questioning, the IDF said.
