Following devastating Israeli strikes on Iranian targets in Syria, Iranian General Hossein Salami claimed that any war Israel starts “will end with its elimination.”

Hossein Salami, deputy head of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, declared Monday that his nation has not abandoned its goal of destroying the Jewish state.
Salami commented in an interview in Tehran, “Our strategy is to erase Israel from the global political map. And it seems that, considering the evil that Israel is doing, it is bringing itself closer to that,” Times of Israel reported.
His remarks were made in response to questions about Israeli strikes on Iranian forces in Syria, and the ongoing threat the IDF poses to Iranian military aspirations in the region.
Just last week, Israel reportedly carried out a daytime missile strike on Iranian targets in Syria, which Iran responded to by firing a surface-to-surface missile into the Golan Heights. The Iron Dome missile defense system destroyed the Iranian rocket over the Mount Hermon ski resort.
The exchange did not end there, however, with the Israeli Air Force delivering a blow to Iranian forces near the Damascus airport that killed 21 people in total, including 12 Iranian soldiers.
Notwithstanding the lopsided casualties in the flare-up, Salami issued additional threats on Iranian TV: “We announce that if Israel does anything to start a new war, it will obviously be the war that will end with its elimination, and the occupied territories will be returned. The Israelis will not have even a cemetery in Palestine to bury their own corpses.”
While Israel has struck Syrian locations, including Iranian targets in the war-torn nation, literally hundreds of times in the past two years, Iran has rarely responded.
