A German soccer stadium was evacuated when explosives were discovered in a parked ambulance outside. A concert venue was also cleared out due to a terror threat.

The northern German city of Hanover escaped tragedy Tuesday when two apparent terror attacks were thwarted.

A friendly soccer match between Germany and the Netherlands was cancelled due to the discovery of an ambulance parked outside that was loaded with explosives.

Hanover’s police chief said authorities had “concrete information” about a bomb threat.

The stadium was evacuated by police about an hour and a half before the kickoff Tuesday night.

Top government officials, including Chancellor Angela Merkel, had been scheduled to attend the match to send a signal that Germany would not bow to terrorism in the wake of the multiple Islamic terror attacks in Paris on Friday evening that killed at least 129 people and injured more than 350 – many critically.

Hanover’s TUI-Arena was also evacuated ahead of a musical performance.
