“Who knows? I may be gone too, because I’m their No. 1 target,” Trump said.

Israel recently shared intelligence with the United States indicating that Iran is considering a new plot to assassinate President Donald Trump, The Wall Street Journal reported Thursday, citing people familiar with the matter.

According to the report, the intelligence suggested Tehran is weighing renewed efforts to target Trump, whom Iranian officials have repeatedly threatened since he ordered the 2020 U.S. strike that killed Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps commander Qassem Soleimani.

The White House declined to comment directly on the report. However, Trump said Wednesday that he believes he remains Iran’s top assassination target.

Speaking at the NATO summit in Turkey, Trump said, “They had leaders, they’re gone, and they had another set of leaders, they’re gone. Now they have another set of leaders, they may be gone. Who knows? And you know what, I may be gone too, because I’m their No. 1 target.”

“I’m the No. 1, because they’re scum. That’s the way they act, and that’s the way they’ve done it for 47 years, but I’m doing what’s right for the country,” he added.

The report comes as tensions between Washington and Tehran have escalated dramatically in recent days. The United States has carried out multiple rounds of strikes on Iranian military targets following Tehran’s attacks on commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, while Iran has responded with missile and drone attacks targeting U.S. military installations across the Gulf.

Iran has repeatedly vowed revenge for Soleimani’s death, and U.S. authorities have disrupted several alleged Iranian assassination plots targeting current and former American officials in recent years. Trump and other senior members of his administration have long been viewed by Tehran as primary targets because of the strike that killed the IRGC commander.
