Artificial intelligence is coming to the aid of the construction of a new skyscraper at the heart of New York City, maximizing efficiency in terms of costs, labor and resources.
Israeli company Buildots, which turns visual data captured via helmet-mounted cameras into actionable construction insights, has teamed up with building giant Global Holdings Management Group on a location just off Columbus Circle.
The 26-story, 298-foot-tall building is set to include nearly 197,000 square feet of residential space encompassing 123 housing units, as well as over 20,000 square feet of commercial retail space – a huge project to keep track of the old-fashioned way.
Buildots’ AI-based technology analyzes data gathered from 360-degree cameras mounted on construction workers’ hard hats and turns it into true-to-life reports that show how progress is going compared to the original blueprints and plans.

Founded in 2018, Buildots is based in Tel Aviv and has offices in London and the East Coast. Earlier this year, it cooperated with a British hospital in the construction of a new hospital wing. Last year, it won the “Construction Software of the Year” award at the 2022 London Construction Awards at London Build, the UK’s leading construction and design show.
