Israeli security forces shot and captured an armed terrorist on Wednesday as he was apparently on his way to carry out a stabbing attack in the community of Yitzhar in Samaria.
A suspect coming from the Arab village of Madama toward Yitzhar was identified near the Nahala neighborhood. A civilian security force approached the suspect, and they carried out an arrest procedure that included shooting after the suspect attacked them.
The terrorist was wounded by the gunfire in his ankle and was evacuated to Beilinson Hospital. He was found to be armed with a knife.
No Israelis were harmed in the incident.
Yitzhar has previously been the target of Arab terror attacks.
The incident near Yitzhar occurred a week and a half after Jerusalem resident Yasmin Jaber was sentenced to two and a half years in prison after being convicted of membership in the Hezbollah terror organization.
Jaber was arrested in August 2020 by the Shin Bet.
Along with her, other suspects from Jerusalem and Ramallah were arrested. The suspects operated as an organized cell, led by Jaber. Tasnim Al-Qadi, a resident of Ramallah who has lived in Turkey in recent years, is one of the suspects.
