Qalandiya riot

IDF forces shot and killed a young Palestinian, apparently in error, and wounded two others on Monday night after Palestinian rioters threw rocks and firebombs at Israeli motorists, injuring them, and spilled oil on Route 443, a major highway connecting Jerusalem and Tel Aviv.

The Palestinian rioters hit several vehicles and damaged them, and three drivers were lightly injured by glass from shattered windscreens. They were taken to a Jerusalem hospital for treatment.

Palestinian sources named the dead boy as Mahmoud Badran, 15, from the Palestinian village of Beit Ur.

Two terrorists who murdered Shlomit Krigman last Sunday came from Beit Ur al-Tahta.

The IDF said in a statement that one Palestinian was seriously wounded by their fire, while another one sustained moderate wounds.

Route 443 has been continuously targeted by terrorists and has been the site of several terror attacks, and particularly during the latest wave of Palestinian terror attacks which began last September.

Prime Minister Netanyahu ordered the bolstering of Israeli forces along the highway and the surrounding area last year to counter the growing terror threat along the road.

This incident was the latest in a long series of almost daily Palestinian terror attacks, which have plagued Israelis over the course of the past nine months, claiming the lives of 37 victims and wounding over 450.
