Officials from Israel’s largest hospital, Sheba Medical Center, were on hand at the inauguration of the King Hamad American Mission Hospital (KHAMH) in Bahrain’s capital city on January 29.
Opening in March, KHAMH will be the first facility in Bahrain and the Gulf Cooperation Council to house a branch of Sheba’s ARC (Accelerate, Redesign, Collaborate) Center for digital healthcare innovations.
ARC already partners with 18 leading medical centers in various countries, ranging from the Mayo Clinic in the United States to Karolinska University Hospital in Sweden.
“This is a futuristic smart hospital that is technology-enabled to create a holistic healing environment that extends beyond the four walls of the hospital,” said Dr. George Cheriyan, the hospital’s CEO and chief medical officer.
“Collaboration with Sheba Medical Center makes the hospital an innovation hub, which will bring to Bahrain world-class medical research and technology to enable young Bahraini entrepreneurs to take advantage of the opportunities in healthcare innovation,” Cheriyan added.
Yoel Har-Even, director of Sheba Global, said, “We are honored to have been chosen by KHAMH and Dr. Cheriyan to bring groundbreaking medical technologies to this incredible facility. We share the vision of both His Royal Highness and Dr. Cheriyan to enhance Bahrain’s private and government healthcare sectors, where we can offer hope without boundaries to the citizens of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the GCC region as a whole.”
Sheba and local partners also recently announced the establishment of an innovation center and an accelerator to advance Arab Israeli medical and paramedical entrepreneurship and early-stage ventures in life sciences, bio-convergence, agritech, food tech, circular economy and climate tech.
