Naveh Rotem, a combat soldier in the ultra-orthodox Netzach Yehuda Battalion, pronounced traditional Jewish prayers of thanks in Beit El on Friday at the site where he was stabbed by a terrorist on December 14, 2018. In attendance, along with his family members, was Shai Alon, head of the Beit El council.

Rotem said the “Birkat Hagomel” prayer, recited when surviving a dangerous event:

Blessed are You, Lord our God, ruler of the world, who rewards the undeserving with goodness, and who has rewarded me with goodness.

He also recited the special blessing said when one returns to a place where a personal miracle occurred:

Blessed is He who performed a miracle for me at this place.

Speaking at the gathering, Alon said, “Indeed, today we’re at the scene of the attack to say the blessing of being delivered from danger, but we could have paid a severe price in blood here if no miracle had occurred here,” reported Arutz7.

The terrorist entered the Jewish town where he committed the attack through a breach in the security fence. Palestinians have prevented closure of the hole, as they claim the fence is located on “private Palestinian land.”

After the attack, Rotem said that he stayed strong for the sake of his young daughter.

“My baby girl defeated the terrorist,” he said at the time.

Following the attack, the IDF soldier was treated at Hadassah Ein Kerem Medical Center in Jerusalem for serious injuries to his head and face.

A week after the incident, his mother Osnat thanked the neurosurgeons and plastic surgery specialists for their outstanding work. She said she was grateful that her son did not sustain worse injuries.
