A mob of Arab rioters threw rocks at Israeli police and border police in an ambush during which they hit a 10-year-old child with a rock. The police acted to keep the injured child out of harm’s way and moved him out of the neighborhood where he received initial medical attention from a Border Police officer until a Magen David Adom (MDA) emergency team arrived and administered further treatment.

After caring for the injured child, police forces began looking for the terrorists who threw the rock which injured him.

Throwing stones at Israel’s security forces is commonplace in Arab neighborhoods in Jerusalem and several locations across Judea and Samaria. Children often take part in stone-throwing activities, particularly right before and after school.

Rioters throw rocks at security forces and civilians on a daily basis. According to a report by Lavi, a Zionist NGO, in 2018 alone, 2,847 rock-throwing incidents were recorded across Judea and Samaria. Additionally, 338 cases of fire-bomb throwing have been documented.

The figures represent only the cases which have been reported to the police, and for which an official police case has been opened. The actual number is, therefore, estimated to be much higher.

In recent years, several Israelis have been murdered by rock-throwers, including 3-year-old Adele Biton in 2013, and 64-year-old Alexander Levlovich in 2015.
