The Simon Wiesenthal Center, a major Jewish human rights organization based in the US, on Wednesday decried the blatant Jew-hatred expressed by Palestinians and called on all international bodies funding them, including NGOs and foreign governments, to publicly denounce the practice and demand accountability.

Blasting televised comments about the Holocaust made by one of the terrorists released in exchange for abducted Israeli soldier Gilad Schalit, the Simon Wiesenthal Center (SWC) “urged governments, NGOs and churches supporting the Palestinians to denounce the continuing anti-Semitic canards promoted by Hamas leadership in Gaza and by the Ramallah-based Palestinian Authority.”

This was in reference to Iyad Abu Falul who – on a program called “On the Path of Resistance,” broadcast on the Hamas-run al-Aqsa TV – said that Adolf Hitler had decided to kill the Jews because he “simply despaired of Zionist racism in Europe.” Abu Fulul also called the numbers of Holocaust victims “inflated.”

“Perhaps we shouldn’t be surprised that Hamas, whose founding genocidal charter invokes the debunked Protocols of Zion screed, would use its official media platform to legitimize Hitler’s Holocaust and promote Holocaust revisionism,” said SWC Associate Dean Rabbi Abraham Cooper. “However, just last Saturday, European diplomats responded with a standing ovation to PA President Mahmoud Abbas’ speech at the European Parliament — during which he falsely accused Israeli rabbis of calling for the poisoning of the Palestinian water supply — a canard so outrageous he was forced to later retract it.”

Cooper continued, “If the now-weakened EU and other international entities want to have any credibility and impact on future peace prospects in the Holy Land, they need to lead the way in publicly denouncing the Palestinian leadership’s serial Jew-hatred. This includes the Palestinian Authority — recipient of billions of dollars of foreign aid and diplomatic support led by the EU.”

He concluded: “Without strong intervention, we will continue to witness the brainwashing of young Palestinians with vile hatred toward their Jewish neighbors that will destroy any hopes for peace and reconciliation.”
