“Israel changes some of existing archaeological findings and writes on them in Hebrew,” claimed Raja Ahmed Hassan during a stream of preposterous lies.

Egyptian Foreign Affairs Council member and former Foreign Minister’s Aide Raja Ahmed Hassan claimed that Israel is forging history and that “neither Israel nor the Jews have any heritage in Jerusalem,” Palestinian Media Watch (PMW) reported.

Despite a research-based body of evidence to the contrary, Hassan claimed that Jews have no historical connection to Jerusalem and that Israel forges archeological findings. He offered no evidence to support his claim.

“If they allow Israel to, it will attempt to change the situation on the ground, to change the cultural sites. It changes some of the existing archaeological findings and writes on them in Hebrew,” Hassan asserted on official Palestinian Authority (PA) TV in October.

Hassan also accused Israel of committing “a forgery [of history] which contradicts the UNESCO decisions. UNESCO has determined that neither Israel nor the Jews have any heritage in Jerusalem.”

Hassan referred to a resolution made by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in 2016, which referred to the Temple Mount, the holiest site to Judaism, only as “Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif,” and presented it only as a “Muslim holy site.”

UNESCO is a UN body that has been criticized for its anti-Israel bias, prompting Israel and the US to leave the organization in January 2019. Israeli Ambassador to the UN Danny Danon said the organization “rewrites history, including by erasing the Jewish connection to Jerusalem.”

A myriad of archeological findings have been discovered in Israel, including many with ancient Hebrew script on them, and coupled with other historical documentation, show an ancient Jewish presence all across Israel, and particularly in Jerusalem.

Hassan’s claims on PA TV are ironic as the PA has destroyed many archeological artifacts, many of which point to the Jews’ historical connection to Israel.

Many important archeological sites have been harmed by PA residents, either by antiquity robbers who hope to benefit from the findings financially or by individuals with a political motive, attempting to deny the historical Jewish presence in the region.

One such example is the destruction of archeological findings at the Temple Mount by the Islamic Waqf, a religious trust that controls the holy site and has bulldozed the earth from the mountain for several years.

Thousands of tons of soil containing archaeological artifacts were dumped as garbage in the nearby Kidron Valley.

Israeli archeologists have since embarked on the “Sifting Project,” in which thousands of volunteers have joined to sift through the dirt and help find archeological treasures. Many significant archeological findings have been unearthed in the discarded rubble.
