US Presidential candidate Mike Huckabee expressed strong support for the Jewish communities of Judea and Samaria during a visit to Israel this week.

Republican presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee expressed strong support for the Israeli communities of Judea and Samaria on Tuesday by publicly recognizing that the region, known also as the West Bank, is part of Israel.

Huckabee, visiting Israel this week, is meeting with officials to discuss the Iran nuclear deal.

Speaking to reporters at the site of biblical Shiloh, for which a modern Israeli community nearby is named, he stated:

“I am delighted tonight to be here at Shiloh. It is an exciting place and an important place. It is the place where the tabernacle once was. It’s a place of biblical history.”

Responding to a reporter’s question, he reiterated that he recognizes Judea and Samaria as part of the State of Israel.

“If you’re going to visit Israel, you should visit all of Israel, and that would include Judea and Samaria,” he said.

His comments on Judea and Samaria are at odds with Obama administration policy.

In the 1967 Six Day War, Israel liberated the area from Jordan, which had control of the region since 1948. Palestinians demand the area be given to them, along with eastern Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip, for a future state.

Regarding Iran, he said he has no regrets over a statement he made last month, saying that by trusting Iran in a deal that has the Islamic Republic inspecting its own nuclear facilities, US President Barack Obama will “take the Israelis and march them to the door of the oven.” In fact, the Iranians were the ones who evoked imagery of the Holocaust when they threatened Israel with one with their missiles, he said.

“I have no regret regarding what I said about the president. My only regret is that the US is making a terrible deal with Iran,” he declared, adding that Holocaust survivors have expressed support for his stance.

Huckabee said he fears that after bringing destruction to Israel, the Iranians would bring death to America, as they have repeatedly declared, even while negotiating with the US.

Sign the Petition to Stop a Nuclear Iran

The US Congress must ensure that sanctions against Iran remain in force until the nuclear threat is completely eliminated.

I strongly oppose easing sanctions before the nuclear threat from Iran has been eliminated. Allowing Iran to enrich uranium without being subject to 'anytime, anywhere' inspections is extremely dangerous and unacceptable. Iran's nuclear program must be stopped.
