“The people of Israel are experiencing national Jewish pride greater than ever before,” said military commentator Chaim Herzog at the end of the 1967 Six-Day War.

In honor of Yom Yerushalayim, the anniversary of the liberation of Jerusalem in June 1967, Toldot Yisrael, a Jerusalem-based non-profit dedicated to recording and sharing the firsthand testimonies of the men and women who helped build and found the State of Israel, released a playlist, including this video documenting the Six-Day War.

“It’s as if a page of the bible were taken out and we have lived to see it,” said military commentator Chaim Herzog, IDF Maj.-General, when Israel won a stunning victory over the surrounding Arab nations seeking the annihilation of the Jewish state.

Wars of Israel since the days of Joshua have been refought, he said, “and our glorious history came to life again before our very eyes.”
