Even at the worst moment of his life, a victim of Palestinian terror found that good can come from the harshest of experiences, when doctors operating on him discovered he had a previously undetected life-threatening tumor.

A victim of one of the recent Palestinian stabbing attacks was able to see the light shining through the darkness of terror when a medical exam he underwent after the incident revealed a life threatening ailment he was unaware of until that point.

Daniel Cohen, 31, was wounded in a stabbing attack in Rishon LeZion last week. Doctors found he was suffering from an intestinal tumor while operating on him to treat his stabbing wounds.

“I was in the middle of a work day,” Cohen, the father of five daughters, recounted for the Israeli Kol Chai Radio.

He was waiting for a bus at the central bus station, and did not notice anything suspicious.

“Then I walked a few steps and suddenly the terrorist lunged at me and choked me. I felt my neck about to break. He took out a knife and tried to behead me, and then he tried for my throat. But I turned my head, and he got me in my jaw. He threw me to the floor and stabbed me along my left side, in the chest, shoulder, and stomach.”

Cohen fought back and received initial treatment from by-passers.

“When Magen David Adom paramedics arrived, I was still conscious, but when I got to Assaf Harofeh Hospital they anesthetized me,” he said.

He underwent a four-hour-long surgery, which ultimately saved his life in more than one way.

“As they were operating on me, they found a growth on my intestine that I didn’t know I had and they cut it out. If they hadn’t discovered it, it could have gotten worse,” he shared.

The Israeli NRG news site quotes Cohen as saying that “the Creator brought me this operation in order to save my life, and in addition, the attack itself was miraculous in that I was not hurt in any vital organs. I have received my life as a present from all directions.”

An 80-year-old woman and another man were wounded in the attack.
