Israel’s leadership conveyed the country’s deepest sympathies following the Las Vegas massacre.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday issued his condolences to the American people following the massacre of 58 and the wounding of hundreds at a country music concert in Las Vegas.

“On this terrible day, the people of Israel stand shoulder to shoulder with the American people in mourning and sorrow. Our hearts go out to the victims’ families and we wish a speedy recovery to the wounded. We grieve with you,” Netanyahu stated.

President Reuven Rivlin on Monday sent a letter to President Donald Trump expressing deepest condolences on behalf of the people of Israel.

“The people of Israel join me in sending our deepest sympathy to you, to the participants in the festival, the people of Las Vegas and to all the people of the United States following this shocking attack which took the lives of so many innocent people and injured so very many more,” Rivlin wrote.

He stressed that Israel “stands with you as you mourn the terrible loss of life and injury following this senseless attack on people who had merely gathered together to listen to music.”

Rivlin asked Trump to “convey our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and send our best wishes for a speedy and complete recovery to the many injured.”

Tzipi Hotovely, Israel’s deputy minister of Foreign Affairs, tweeted, “Israel grieves with the American people over the senseless loss of innocent life in the horrific massacre in Las Vegas.”

Knesset Speaker Member of Knesset (MK) Yuli Edelstein extended his “deepest condolences” to his US counterpart, Paul Ryan, saying “we stand with you and the American people at this difficult hour.”

‘Act of Pure Evil’

The Tel Aviv municipality lit up Monday night with the US flag in solidarity with the American people.

The murderer, Stephen Craig Paddock, 64, sprayed automatic fire into the concert-goers from his 32nd floor hotel room at the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino across the street from the concert. Paddock is dead. Over 500 were injured in the worst mass shooting in modern US history.

Trump condemned the atrocity as an “act of pure evil.”

The president said he would be going to Las Vegas on Wednesday “on a very, very sad moment for me…for everybody no matter where you are, no matter what your thought process.”

“Our unity cannot be shattered by evil, our bonds cannot be broken by violence,” the president said. “We call upon the bonds that unite us: our faith, our family, and our shared values. We call upon the bonds of citizenship, the ties of community, and the comfort of our common humanity.”
