IDF Holocaust

One of the main lessons learned by the Jewish nation from the Holocaust is that it must have a strong army it can rely on to defend itself. This concept is one of the fundamental ethos of Israel’s Defense Forces.

Standing proudly with their heads bowed, IDF soldiers bear the memory of the Holocaust and vow: “Never Again!”

IDF "Witnesses in Uniform" Delegation March Into the Auschwitz-Birkenau Concentration Camp . The "witnesses in uniform" delegations program sends hundreds of IDF officers each year to a special journey following the memory of the Holocaust and the 6 million Jews that were murdered in those cruel times. Triumph of the Return” – On September 4, 2003, in a large ceremony, the Israeli Air Force flew three f-15 jets over the Auschwitz concentration camp in a show of the Jewish people’s continued strength and triumph over past adversaries.

During the Holocaust, six million Jews were murdered at the hands of the Nazis. Millions of Jews and other Nazi victims were imprisoned, enslaved and murdered at Auschwitz and its sister camps.

This visit was a testament to the world that the saying “never again” is not just a slogan.

Many of the participants were the children and grandchildren of Holocaust survivors.
