Jared Kushner, former advisor to President Donald Trump, was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for his key role in formulating the Abraham Accords between Israel and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Bahrain, Sudan, and Morocco.

Avi Berkowitz, his deputy, was likewise nominated for the prize.

Attorney Alan Dershowitz submitted their candidacy. He is eligible to do so in his capacity as a professor emeritus of Harvard Law School.

Israel and the UAE and Bahrain signed a historic peace agreement at the White House on September 15, the first agreement to be signed between Israel and an Arab country in 25 years.

Israel and Sudan announced the normalization of ties in October 2020. Morocco joined the Abraham Accords in December.

Announced on August 13, the Abraham Accords is the first between a Gulf state and Israel and is expected to lead to similar agreements with other Arab countries, possibly Oman or Saudi Arabia.

Nobel Peace Prize winner Lord David Trimble nominated Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in November for the Nobel Peace Prize, along with Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi’s Crown Prince.

Lord Trimble, the First Minister of Northern Ireland, won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1998 together with John Hume for their efforts to find a peaceful solution to the conflict in Northern Ireland.

In accordance with the rules of the Nobel Prize Committee, since Trimble is the winner of the Nobel Peace Prize, his decision to submit Netanyahu’s candidacy will lead the committee to discuss the issue.

Former Prime Minister Menachem Begin was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1978 for the peace he made with Egypt, and Yitzchak Rabin and Shimon Peres received the award in 1994 for their efforts to make peace with the Palestinians.
