Palestinian Authority TV calls terrorists in synagogue massacre “victims,” and “martyrs from occupation police fire.”

The Palestinian Authority’s (PA) official television channel has a history of twisting the truth to incite violence against Israel. Throughout the recent wave of terror attacks, the PA’s newscasters referred to terrorists as “victims,” “martyrs,” and even innocent bystanders in “accidents.”

After last week’s Jerusalem synagogue massacre, the PA reports focused on the “tragic” death of the terrorists Uday and Ghassan Abu Jamal—Arab cousins who shot, axed and stabbed worshippers during morning prayers—as though they were victims of unprovoked violence by Israel.

Reports offered no context for the deaths of the axe-wielding terrorists, who murdered four rabbis and emerged from the synagogue firing on Israeli security forces, killing one Druze police officer while wounding others before being shot down themselves.

One PA anchorwoman said:

“The latest reaction to [Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu’s policy and means was the death of 2 Palestinians as martyrs from occupation police fire in West Jerusalem.” (Translation by Palestinian Media Watch).

The Palestinian Authority’s fabrication of news, incitement to hatred of Jews and glorification of terrorism has been a long-monitored phenomenon by Israel, as well as several NGO watch-dogs, including Palestinian Media Watch and the Middle East Media Research Institute.

PA calls vehicular terrorist attacks “car accidents”

The PA channel also called the deaths of two terrorists, who drove their cars into crowded bus stops, “martyrs” who died in unexplained “accidents.”

The station mourned “the death of Abd Al-Rahman al-Shaludi as a martyr. He was shot by the occupation after a car accident,” a PA news anchor read. In reality, Shaludi ran his car into a group of transit users waiting to board the light rail at a Jerusalem station on October 22. The attack left a 3-month-old baby and a 22-year-old woman dead before Israeli police shot and killed Shaludi.

Similarly, on November 5, Palestinian Authority TV claimed the death of Ibrahim al-Akari was “as [a] martyr in Sheikh Jarrah after a run-over incident.” Akari ran his car right through another group at another light rail stop, killing two and injuring 13.

Help Cut Funding to the PA

The US pays out over $500 million a year to the Palestinian Authority, who in turn disburses more than a quarter of that humanitarian aid funding to terrorists in Israeli prisons and to their families. The PA not only glorifies, but also sponsors terrorism in Israel using your tax dollars. But YOU can make it stop. Sign our petition now to urge United States and the European Union to cut funding to the PA and its proxies, cutting terrorists off from their aid.
