The rampant incitement to terror in Palestinian media is responsible for the murder of Dafna Meir, a mother of six, and other acts of terror, the Israeli Security Agency confirmed.
A joint IDF-ISA (Israeli Security Agency/Shin Bet) overnight operation last week resulted in the arrest of a minor from the Arab village of Beit Amra, near Hebron, on suspicion that he stabbed and murdered Dafna Meir, a mother of six, in Otniel on Sunday, January 17.
During the Shin Bet investigation, it was discovered that during the period preceding the murder, Murad Bader Abdullah Adis, 16 had watched broadcasts on Palestinian Authority television in which Israel was alleged to be “killing Palestinian young people.”
On the day of the murder, while under the influence of the programs to which he had been exposed on Palestinian TV, Adis decided to commit a stabbing attack with the goal of murdering a Jew. Given the proximity of the Jewish community of Otniel to his place of residence, he decided to commit the attack there.
Upon reaching Otniel, he managed to enter the Meir home, where he stabbed Dafna to death before fleeing the scene.
“The harsh result of the attack underscores yet again the severity of the threat posed by the wild incitement being carried out against the State of Israel and Jews in the Palestinian media, which influences lone attackers to commit murder and other serious acts of terrorism,” the Shin Bet stated.
“This hatred has an address: it’s the incitement of the Palestinian Authority,” Netanyahu declared during a visit to Otniel the day after the murder.
In December, a 37-year-old terrorist who rammed his car into four Israelis also admitted under investigation that he was influenced by Palestinian incitement.
