A Palestinian terrorist on Monday stabbed and critically wounded an Israeli at the entrance to the city of Ariel, in Samaria.
The victim, 29-year-old Itamar Ben-Gal, escaped into the city, where he collapsed just after calling for help. Ben-Gal, the father of 4 children, is from Har Bracha in the Shomron.
He was evacuated by a medical team to Beilinson Hospital in Petah Tikva, where he received treatment for wounds to his upper body.
Magen David Adom paramedic Yaakov Feder said that when he arrived at the scene he found Ben-Gal unconscious after suffering multiple stab wounds to the upper body.
Ben-Gal subsequently died of his wounds.
Commander of the ZAKA Shai region Gil Bismut said: “A terrorist stabbed a young man who was waiting for a bus at the hitch-hiking station outside Ariel. After resuscitation efforts at the site, the victim was evacuated in critical condition to Beilinson Hospital where he was declared dead [from wounds to his upper body]. I and my fellow ZAKA volunteers remained at the site to clear the area of human remains to ensure a full Jewish burial.”
The terrorist, clad in black, was reportedly hit by a car that attempted to thwart the attack. However, the terrorist managed to get into a car that sped away from the scene of the attack, in the direction of the Palestinian village of Kifl Harris.
A bag containing the terrorist’s ID card was found at the scene.
Security forces have launched a manhunt for the terrorist and the car.
