Jerusalem attack

Security forces manning a checkpoint near the neighborhood of Har Homa, at one of Jerusalem’s southern entrances, noticed a knife-wielding Palestinian running towards them. A policeman shot and killed the terrorist.

A Palestinian terrorist was shot dead by Israeli security forces as he attacked them at a checkpoint on the outskirts of Jerusalem on Sunday.

Security forces were manning a checkpoint near the neighborhood of Har Homa, at one of Jerusalem’s southern entrances, when they noticed a knife-wielding Palestinian running towards them.

A policeman shot and killed the terrorist, thwarting a potentially lethal attack.

No Israelis were harmed in the attack.

Police identified the terrorist as a minor from one of the nearby Palestinian villages.

A Border Police commander lauded the forces’ professionalism, alertness and decisiveness “which prevented the loss of human life.”

Almost simultaneously, the capital’s police received a report by an Israeli woman that a Palestinian minor attempted to attack her near a major intersection.

The woman, in her 30’s, told police that she fought with the would-be-murderer before he escaped the scene.

She was treated for shock by a medical team, while security forces launched a manhunt for the terrorist and opened an investigation into the incident.

These incidents were preceded by a terror incident in northern Samaria earlier in the day in which two Palestinian terrorists attacked and shot at an IDF patrol. Both were killed in the exchange of fire.

These incidents was the last in a long series of almost daily terror attacks, which have plagued Israelis over the course of the past five months, claiming the lives of 30 victims and wounding over 300.
