After being stabbed in the head and shoulder, an IDF soldier bravely overcame his Palestinian assailant who stabbed him while trying to enter Israel illegally.
An IDF soldier, Yoav Leitman, was stabbed and moderately wounded in the head and shoulder on Thursday when attacked by a Palestinian Arab who was illegally crossing the security fence near Oranit in Samaria.
An IDF unit identified a group of Palestinians that was attempting to enter Israel illegally. The force arrested six of them and one attacked a soldier with a knife. The injured soldier managed to overpower his assailant. The other inflitrators were held for questioning.
The wounded soldier, 22, of the Paratroopers Brigade, was treated by Magen David Adom (Israeli Red Cross) medics on site and evacuated to a hospital.
The Hamas terror organization welcomed the attack, stating that it demonstrated Palestinian “steadfastness” to continue with its “resistance,” despite the obstacles.
A similar incident occurred in September when IDF soldiers shot an Arab after he tried running them down with his car. The soldiers were manning a checkpoint near the Eyal Crossing near the center of Israel when they spotted a group of Arabs trying to enter Israel illegally. Another Arab was lightly wounded by gunfire.
