On Tuesday, Palestinian terrorist Mousa Sarsour murdered 84-year-old Israeli woman Shulamit Rachel Ovadia near her home in Holon, a suburb of Tel Aviv.
It appeared that Sarsour killed Ovadia with a blunt object through a series of blows to her head. Police were called to the area because one of Ovadia’s neighbors heard her screaming.
On Wednesday morning, Sarsour was found dead.
His body was discovered in Tel Aviv, after the terrorist apparently hung himself in an abandoned building.
Following Ovadia’s murder, the IDF arrested five suspects with connections to the attack, some of whom were Sarsour’s relatives.
“Terrorism is the embodiment of pure evil. This is a shocking attack by a despicable and cowardly terrorist who murdered an elderly woman who could not fight back,” said Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid in response to the attack.
“The security forces are currently working to find the terrorist,” added Lapid in comments issued before Sarsour’s body was discovered. “We will act forcefully against terrorism; we will apprehend this terrorist and those who sent him.”
Israel is currently bracing for a rash of attacks launched by Palestinian terrorists to coincide with the Jewish New Year and the holidays that follow.
