Palestinian factions in the Gaza Strip, including the territory’s Hamas rulers, opened a “mourning tent” on Saturday for Qassem Soleimani, the slain Iranian general whom U.S. President Donald Trump referred to as “the world’s number one terrorist.”
At the mourning tent in Gaza, dozens gathered to burn American and Israeli flags.
The killing of Soleimani was “a loss for Palestine and the resistance,” said senior Hamas official Ismail Radwan.
Soleimani was a key figure propping up terror groups like Hamas, Hezbollah, and Palestinian Islamic Jihad, all of which seek Israel’s destruction and regularly fire rockets at innocent civilians in the Jewish state.
Soleimani oversaw Iran’s terror proxies throughout the Middle East, doling out massive amounts of aid and facilitating training.
As Palestinian terrorists and their supporters in Gaza mourned Soleimani in Gaza on Saturday, thousands took to the streets of Baghdad for a funeral his procession
Soleimani was killed in a U.S. airstrike launched by the U.S. in an attempt to thwart a series of attacks the Iranian general had planned, which endangered American troops and officials.
Mourners in Iraq chanted “Death to America, death to Israel.”
Soleimani was also mourned also on the streets of Tehran.
One man in Tehran, who only identified himself as Amir, was worried. “If there is a war, I am 100% sure it will not be to our betterment. The situation will certainly get worse,” he said.
