Israeli Border Police officers were successful in arresting a woman suspected of attempting to smuggle an Arab through a security crossing in her car trunk while carrying a loaded gun which is suspected to have been stolen.
The Border Police on Tuesday received information concerning a vehicle that was making its way from the Samaria area into west Israel through the Reihan Crossing and that there may be smuggled weapons hidden in it.
A Border Police force, in cooperation with the security guards at the site, stopped the suspicious vehicle and found an Arab in the trunk of the vehicle, as well as a revolver loaded with six bullets.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the gun had been stolen from the supervisor of the Israel Nature and National Parks Protection Authority.
The suspected smuggler is an Israeli in her 20s, while the steal-away is an Arab in his 30s, from Jenin.
“High-quality information received by the Border Police, combined with a rapid operational response by forces in the field, prevented the illegal possession of weapons and the entry of an illegal resident into Israel,” the police stated.
