“When I was a civilian, it was important to me to take my family to the Golan Heights and show them that Israeli sovereignty in the Golan, Judea and Samaria regions is indisputable,” said Pompeo.

A tribute event, attended by former Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Israeli leaders from Judea and Samaria, was held on Sunday evening for former US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in appreciation of his efforts to strengthen the Jewish communities in the region.

Pompeo, accompanied by his wife and son, began his visit at the Ancient Shiloh heritage site, where he prayed at the site of the Tabernacle and was moved to touch archaeological findings from the biblical era.

The tribute event was held at the Psagot Winery. In 2019, the winery dedicated a special wine in Pompeo’s name in honor of his declaration of the US’ recognition of the legality of the Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria.

Pompeo recalled that when he joined the Trump administration, “it was very important for me to speak the truth. One of those truths is the decision that the US embassy be in Jerusalem. Even though there were fears that this declaration could trigger violent events, we knew that it was the truth and acted accordingly.”

“When I was a civilian, it was important to me to take my family to the Golan Heights and show them that Israeli sovereignty in the Golan, Judea and Samaria regions is indisputable,” he said.

Concerning his historic declaration about the legality of Israel’s presence in Judea and Samaria, Pompeo said that “we had the opportunity to make this most important statement, and this was that the Judea and Samaria Jewish communities are an inseparable part of the State of Israel, and I’m happy that we did that. I pray to God that in the merit of our common faith, the Lord will be with you.”

Netanyahu remarked that “everyone needs an ally. There is no greater ally than the United States and there is no greater ally than Mike.”

“When you walk here in the hills and throughout Judea and Samaria, you find Jewish history at every step and every turn,” he added.

“The State of Israel is a hope for the nations, and with the help of the US and with God’s help, we will continue to see Israel’s strength in the world,” he declared.

Binyamin Regional Council head Ysrael Ganz s that Pompeo’s statement on Judea and Samaria “is a practical expression of God’s will, and is, therefore, our guarantee. We will succeed in deepening our roots here and will be victorious, and that is exactly what we are doing here every day.

“Your statement, Mike, gave us a lot of strength and is a continuation of the work and the flourishing of the Jewish People here, in Binyamin, Judea and Samaria.”
