Hamas’ voice from Gaza is charged with sexual harassment.

News sites affiliated with the Fatah movement report that senior Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri is suspected of sexually harassing a female foreign reporter, Israel’s NRG reports. The female correspondent, who works out of Gaza, reportedly complained to Hamas’ other spokesman Fauzi Barhom, who reported the issue to Hamas leadership. They are taking the complaint seriously and have launched an investigation into the issue.

In the meantime, Abu Zuhri has been suspended from all public activity. This is not the first time Abu Zuhri has been charged with such misconduct. NRG quotes Palestinian sources which state that Abu Zuhri has been previously arrested by the Palestinian police for harassing a young woman he was riding with in a taxi. The woman complained to the authorities, and Abu Zuhri admitted to touching her while sitting next to her.

Hamas: Completely Corrupt

Abu Zuhri joined other Hamas officials in gaining notoriety for corruption when he attempted in 2006 to smuggle vast sums of money into the Gaza Strip. Palestinian security and customs officials discovered he had 640,000 Euros on his person; another report claimed he held a larger sum of 900,000 Euros. Palestinian officials confiscated the vast sum. The cash was hidden in a special belt worn by Abu Zuhri, which fell while trying to cross the border, and the money was uncovered by the monitors. He left the Rafat Junction without the money he attempted to smuggle.
