Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has requested that the words “Death to Israel” be removed from his country’s ballistic missiles.

Although not due to a change of heart towards the Jewish state, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has asked that the slogan calling for death to Israel be removed from Iran’s ballistic missiles, Iranian media reported.

The reason for his objection to the genocidal threat being engraved on the missiles seems to be an issue of public relations, as the slogan clearly is inconsistent with the impression that the Iranian diplomat is trying to convey in speeches to the Western countries, in which he claims that Iran’s nuclear development program is intended for peaceful means only.

In blatant disregard for the nuclear deal signed with the Six Global Powers, Iran has been progressing with the development of its ballistic missile capability.

In March, a semi-official news agency reported that Iran test-fired two ballistic missiles at a target some 1,400 kilometers (870 miles) away. The phrase “Israel must be wiped out” was written on the missiles.

At its closest point, the distance from Iran to Tel Aviv and Jerusalem is roughly 1,000 kilometers (600 miles).
