Mustafa Mughniyeh

Has young Hezbollah commander Mustafa Mughniyeh, the son and brother of former terrorists, been arrested for working for the Mossad and CIA?

Hezbollah’s security services have arrested Mustafa Mughniyeh, son of Hezbollah military chief Imad Mughniyeh and brother of Jihad, in Beirut on Monday on charges of espionage for the US and Israel.

Several sites reported that Mughniyeh, the newly appointed head of the Hezbollah command in the Syrian Golan Heights, was detained in the Lebanese capital for his alleged connections to the Mossad and the CIA.

Mustafa is a son of Imad Mughniyeh, who was assassinated in Damascus in 2008, reportedly in a joint Israeli-US operation. He was given the Golan command after his brother Jihad was killed in the Golan in January, reportedly in an Israeli airstrike, together with other Hezbollah terrorists and Iranian military officials.

The report, if confirmed, would represent an earthquake for Iran’s Lebanese proxy, DEBKA Files noted.

If the report is true, this would not be the first time an Israeli intelligence agency has infiltrated a terror organization through a family member.

Mosab Hassan Yousef, the son of Ahmed Yousef, a founding member of Hamas, worked for the Shin Bet (Israel’s Security Agency) for 10 years while running his father’s Hamas headquarters in Judea and Samaria.

As a double agent, he prevented untold numbers of terror attacks by warning Israeli authorities and disclosed the locations of Hamas terror cells to Israeli security forces.

He eventually escaped to the US with Israel’s help, where he is an advocate against radical Islam and terrorism.
