The Maccabees could have lit the Menorah with regular oil, but wanting to repair their relationship with God, they insisted on a pure product.  

This week’s Torah portion is 'Shemini' (Leviticus 9:1–11:47) and among its episodes is the death of Nadav and Avihu, the sons of Aaron.

Why did Aaron's death seem to hit so close to home?

We all have the potential to become holy. We just have to remember that we need earn it ourselves; there's no special pill or oil to make it happen.

We cannot allow ourselves to be taken over by ego and other false visions of grandeur. This is especially true when it comes to finding a spouse.
