Dozens of meters beneath the centuries-old Crusader castle in southern Lebanon lies a massive Hezbollah tunnel complex, intended for use as a base to invade northern Israel.

Going all the way back to the 1982 invasion of Lebanon, the IDF and various terror organizations have battled over the strategic high point of Beaufort Castle—hopefully this time being the last.

Geopolitically, the seizure asserts Israeli primacy along its northern trench and exposes the limits of Iranian proxy power.

After withdrawing 26 years ago, the IDF has recaptured Beaufort Castle—the strategic high point in southern Lebanon first seized during the 1982 war.

'Whoever threatens the citizens of Israel will lose their strategic assets one after another,' Katz said.
