Joy Karega, an assistant professor at Oberlin College whose Facebook posts featured anti-Semitic conspiracy theories about Jewish global power and accusations that Israel was behind the 9/11 terror attacks and the creation of ISIS, was officially dismissed by the school’s Board of Trustees on Tuesday.
Oberlin College President Marvin Krislov’s initial response to the revelations was to defend Karega’s right to free speech, while emphasizing that her views were personal and not those of the college. This sparked outrage from a number of alumni.
Anger, particularly among alumni, continued to grow this week after last week’s revelation of an Oberlin professor’s anti-Semitic Facebook rants and the college’s poor response to it. Protest this anti-Semitism at Oberlin College!
