Wednesday’s ceremony was launched ahead of the first anniversary of the attack as an alternative to the official state event after many bereaved and hostage families said they would shun it. 

Israel held its national ceremony for October 7 families, featuring Eli Sharabi, as bereaved relatives, survivors, and the nation gathered to mourn the victims and honor the memory of those lost.
