Yom Kippur reminds us of the fragility of our existence and that our destinies are determined by God.

A Bar-Ilan University professor is presenting her study, which was successful in reducing child obesity in the city of Leeds, to the British Parliament.

'This initiative has resulted in real change that is clearly motivated by a sense of empathy for the needy,' said the mayor of a northern Israeli town.

Leket Israel-The National Food Bank has devised methods of turning the unfortunate reality of food waste into an advantage for the needy.

"It was painful to see this exhausted father, pregnant mother and weeping children living this way. I walked in and immediately saw the fear in their eyes."
