Residents of the Gaza Strip may soon be able to fly to Turkey via Israel’s Ramon Airport near Eilat.

Israel's brand-new Ramon International Airport near Eilat is finally open to the world as its first international flight touched down on Monday.

Constructed at a cost of some $500 million, the airport has an annual capacity of 2.5 million passengers. It is able to handle 20 takeoffs and landings an hour and accommodate large aircraft, such as Boeing 747s.
