Jerusalem truck-ramming terror

Four soldiers were killed and at least 15 wounded in a truck-ramming Palestinian terror attack in Jerusalem.

A Palestinian terrorist from eastern Jerusalem rammed his truck into a group of IDF soldiers at Jerusalem’s Armon Hanatziv Promenade on Sunday, murdering four and wounding about 15 others, some seriously. The dead victims, three women and one man, were all approximately 20 years of age.

The injured include soldiers and civilians.

The terrorist was shot dead by security forces at the site.

“A truck that was driving along the Armon Hanatziv promenade hit a group of people exiting a bus. There are several wounded to varying degrees. The terrorist was neutralized,” a police spokesperson said.

Magen David Adom and United Hatzalah medics arrived at the scene. The wounded were evacuated to Jerusalem’s Hadassah Ein Kerem and Shaare Zedek hospitals.

Yakov Kaminetzki, a volunteer with United Hatzalah’s EMS ambucycle unit reported from the scene of the event that, “When I arrived at the scene I saw a number of pedestrians who were run down by a large truck near the Armon Hanatziv Promenade, reported Yakov Kaminetzki of United. “Some of the pedestrians were unconscious and trapped underneath the vehicle. I requested that the dispatch and command center send additional assistance including fire and rescue services as well as additional EMS responders due to the large number of injured persons.

“Near the vehicle were a number of other pedestrians who had sustained various degrees of injuries some of whom were in serious and moderate condition,” he added.

The Armon Hanatziv area is situated adjacent to Palestinian neighborhoods and has been the site of several terror attacks, some of them lethal. The most severe among occurred in October 2015, when two Palestinian terrorists boarded a bus in that area and shot and stabbed passengers, murdering Alon Gobeberg, Haim Haviv and Richard Lakin, who also had American citizenship, before being shot dead by security forces. Another 17 Israelis were wounded in that attack.

This incident was the latest in a long series of Palestinian terror attacks that have plagued Israelis over the course of over a year, claiming the lives of 42 victims and wounding over 450.
